about the artist

Hey, it’s Korianne!

Oh, where to start?! I can be incredibly long-winded if I’m not careful, so I’ll just try to start at the important parts:

I was raised in Rockford, Illinois, and went off to college at Harding University in Arkansas, where I received my BFA in Art Education (after having never taken an art class prior to college, believe it or not!) and met my wonderful husband Nathan. We were married one month after graduating and moved straight to Mobile, Alabama, where we had both been hired straight out of college as the art and music teachers for the same school. Mr. and Mrs. Stout, in class rooms directly across the hall from each other… it was like a Hallmark movie.

Teaching art was stable and predictable – perfect for my worry-wart self (though, being the sole art teacher for 800 kids K-12 was pretty much the worst). “Full-time artist” was never the plan, or even a dream, until all of the sudden it was. All it took was one friend-of-a-friend asking me to paint her wedding the following year and me not knowing how to say no… until suddenly, I was shadowing another very talented live painter (Melissa Munger, I love you), booking my first few weddings, and somehow painting 15 before that first friend’s wedding even rolled around. With a shocking amount of interest and an insane amount of lessons and blessings, it was officially a real business, and I was booking far enough into the future to consider it a viable career.

We moved to Red Wing, Minnesota, a gorgeous and sweet riverfront town that I love, and I was keeping the idea of applying to teaching jobs in my back pocket… just in case. Well, it’s been three full years now, and there’s no end in sight for this crazy awesome job. Now, I’m living the dream with my incredibly supportive husband, our precious baby girl Eliza, and our little terrier mix Penny.

I am endlessly grateful for every single opportunity, every single day I get to run a business and paint for a living, every single couple that comes my way and leaves with a painting they’ll treasure… and for the God who has brought it all my way. I hope I steward these blessings well.

Thank you all for being here and caring about my little life. You’re the best.

More About

Me

I’m a fair weather girl – if the weather is 55+, you can find me outside walking by the river with my daughter, strolling art fairs and farmer’s markets, and spending $200 to grow 7 mini peppers in our backyard garden.

I have a refined palette. I could definitely subsist on Dr. Pepper, iced white mochas, and pizza.

I’m a band girl at heart – I played clarinet for 10 years, went to state for my instrument, and met my husband in the college marching band!

I crochet, but only blankets and scarves (3 dimensional objects are well above my skill level), and only during the winter. I’ve been working on the same project for 4 years. In 4 more years, I’m gonna have a killer queen size blanket!

And last but not least... I'm a lover of audio books (day and night).
